Here's a new painting from my series featuring the toys of my seven pound dog Carol. I'm pitting the toys against each other! This one is called "Christmas Dog vs. Mr. Octopus!"



* Update - Speaking of Mr. Octopus, I sold the original Mr. Octopus painting last week! That's the first Dog Toy painting I've sold.

I've started a series of still lives featuring my tiny six pound dog Carol's toys. This is the last in a three part series within the series, which features a belonging of Carol's, in this case a plate of her gross wet food, and a toy of Carol's, Mr. Bear, who she doesn't play with all that much. We're running out of toys, gonna have to start double dipping next week.



By the way Carol is getting over a doggie cold at the moment. Poor gal.

Dog Toy Painting Series (Cat Toy)

I've started a series of still lives featuring my tiny six pound dog Carol's toys. This weeks painting is take two on a cat toy for some friends of mine. Their cat was a barn cat when they got it, they bought this toy to for the cat to sleep with as a sort of surrogate sibling in replacement of the ones it lived with in the barn. As the cat grew up it would carry this toy around by the scruff of the neck as if it was it's kitten. Most of the chewing was done by the cat, though the family dog helped finish off the face.

I've started a series of still lives featuring my tiny six pound dog Carol's toys. This week's was a bit of a failure. I struggled with this one all day, only to find once I finished it that I had accidentally painted it on a pastel canvas, which would explain all the trouble I had with the paint drying too quickly and reacting badly to the board. I'm gonna take another shot at this one next week as it was also my first commissioned piece. Oops.

this is a friends cat toy with a great chewed up face, and a very sweet story behind the toy.

I've started a series of still lives featuring my tiny six pound dog Carol's toys. I put this toy in Carol's bed, as I'm getting a little bored with always having the same backgrounds. This is a toy we got in a gift bag at an awards show in 2006, it supposed to be a fancy spoiled dog with a pink boa, very much like Carol herself.

I've started a series of still lives featuring my tiny six pound dog Carol's toys. I'm not exactly sure what this animal is suppose to be, I think it's a bear, or a wolf or something.

This week I tried painting on a small piece of wood instead of canvas, and I liked it! I'd definitely try this again.

I've started a series of still lives featuring my tiny six pound dog Carol's toys. This is "Long Dog". I've always enjoyed painting small, but I was surprised by how much I liked painting this picture which was a little larger than the others.

Also, I recently figured out the time-lapse function on my new camera, so I've been shooting time-lapse of everything! If you've got 4 minutes, I shot my entire day working on this painting. I like all the moments where I stare at my ipod with no expression on my face, and yes, I'm painting in the bathroom. That's the only room in the apartment where I can control the light.

So glamorous.

I'm trying to keep in practice with my painting, so I'm starting a series of still lives featuring my tiny six pound dog Carol's toys. This is Carol's toy Mr. Toad. While I do these paintings I listen to the Adam Carolla Podcast on my ipod. I highly recommend it, he's funny as hell and it's free for now.

Oh yeah, and Sunday is my Birthday!

I wasn't able to do a painting this week as Michele and I are on vacation in L.A. But here's a funny picture of me the last time we stayed here drunk and break dancing at the Sky Bar. I was asked to stop because I was "upsetting some of the lady customers."

Hopefully I'll get some painting done next week!
