Dog Toy Painting Series

Here's a new painting from my series featuring the toys of my seven pound dog Carol. I'm pitting the toys against each other! This one is called "Christmas Dog vs. Mr. Octopus!"



* Update - Speaking of Mr. Octopus, I sold the original Mr. Octopus painting last week! That's the first Dog Toy painting I've sold.

I've started a series of still lives featuring my tiny six pound dog Carol's toys. This is Carol's scary Dracula toy. I bought the frame this week, and painting the picture for the frame. I got the idea from my friend Steve Purcell who does that a lot.

I've started a series of still lives featuring my tiny six pound dog Carol's toys. This is "Long Dog". I've always enjoyed painting small, but I was surprised by how much I liked painting this picture which was a little larger than the others.

Also, I recently figured out the time-lapse function on my new camera, so I've been shooting time-lapse of everything! If you've got 4 minutes, I shot my entire day working on this painting. I like all the moments where I stare at my ipod with no expression on my face, and yes, I'm painting in the bathroom. That's the only room in the apartment where I can control the light.

So glamorous.

I'm trying to keep in practice with my painting, so I'm starting a series of still lives featuring my tiny six pound dog Carol's toys. This is Carol's toy Mr. Toad. While I do these paintings I listen to the Adam Carolla Podcast on my ipod. I highly recommend it, he's funny as hell and it's free for now.

I'm trying to keep in practice with my painting, so I'm starting a series of still lives featuring my tiny six pound dog Carol's toys. This one is called "Pink Monkey", though I'm not exactly sure this toy is suppose to be a monkey. It use to have a nose, but Carol chewed it off. Grizzly!

Our tiny dog Carol is featured on the front page of yahoo.com . At over 1 million hits in one day she is a internet super star!

Jeff Heermann Carol Drawing

I haven't posted any artwork of our tiny dog Carol in awhile, thankfully or friend and awesome illustrator Jeff Heermann was inspired to do the following drawing of Carol. Thanks Jeff,and happy 4th Birthday Carol!

Dog Drawings

Our dog Carol's daycare provider is in the process of updating her website and asked me to do some drawings. She is really cool, and Carol LOVES it there! So if you live in San Francisco, have a dog under 20 pounds, and you're looking for a daycare, I can't recommend her enough! Her business is called Bark to Basics. Oh and of course I had to put a Carol drawing in there.

Tablecloth Drawings

When I was a kid my favorite part about going to a restaurant was drawing on the paper table setting. I did these today during lunch at Scala's.

Little Miss Sunshine

As many of you know I like to paint obnoxiously cute pictures of my tiny dog Carol. Well, I'm sad to say that this is the very last one I'm going to do...

THIS YEAR!

I drew the sketch for this painting of the baby lounging in the sunshine on hotel stationary while staying at the Hotel Amarano in Burbank during a work trip last week.


I had the canvas in my "man" bag, and an hour and a half to kill. It was either work on a painting or watch a third hour of "Dog the Bounty Hunter". I'm happy with the final product, but I'm sad to say I'll never get that extra hour of "Dog the Bounty Hunter" back.

Christmas Cards

Michele and I are trying to quickly come up with this years Christmas card. In the meantime I'll post some of the ones we've done in the past. This card was done the year we got our dog Carol. The joke was that we'd all be walleyed like she is, unfortunately people that didn't know us just thought we were a blind couple.

Carol Killing Stuffed Bone

I did the drawing for this painting of my dog Carol murdering her terrifying stuffed, poke-a-dot, bone awhile back but felt it wasn't good enough to bother finishing. I'm glad I took another shot at it, because I think I was able to salvage the drawing in the execution of the finished painting. I'm actually pretty happy with this one, but not so happy that I'm the kind of guy that paints stuff like this.
