This Week's New Yorker Caption Contest

Here is my entry in this weeks New Yorker Caption Contest. Each week they provide the image and you provide the caption.

"I’m taking piano lessons, so far I’ve made about eight."

Here are the left overs...

We call this the violin room, though I’m not sure why.

This is the grand room.

You can leave your piano here, and your coat in the bedroom.

They’re good for covering all the bong water stains.

Here are this weeks nominees...

"My wife won't let me put one in the back yard."
Submitted by Claude Lempereur
Levittown, N.Y.

"Don't worry, I ate lunch more than an hour ago."
Submitted by Michael Cianfrani
San Francisco, Calif.

"Make yourself useful—fake some Russian and hold up a 9.9."
Submitted by Christopher Rulff
St. Paul, Minn.

I entered...

"I had to bring in some of the fun I didn’t get to over the weekend."

With the piano one, I think the first and third of the leftovers (violin room, coats) are insanely funny. You should enter those too under different names! One of those is a winner!

Thanks! It doesn't matter, I will never be nominated. Not unless I make a joke about the economy.

You never know, man! One of these days...although I know some old timers here in the city who have been entering the contest for 20 or 30 years and still haven't won. But then again, they can't draw pictures of their friends dressed in drag on cocktail napkins while totally s-faced. You've got skills!

I entered "Don't worry, I ate lunch more than an hour ago" and I've been chasing that dragon for over a dozen years. You're lucky you were never nominated - it's a curse I tell ya. A curse!
