Comics from Tracy

In our film "Tracy" we had a scene featuring one of the characters secret comic book collection. We created over 30 original comic book covers, most of which go completely unnoticed in the 3 to 4 minute scene. For the next few months I'll post one a week so that they can finally get their due.

I did this one, and I'm not really sure what it's based on, but it just seemed like some kind of dumb Disney pirate cartoon that I would hate. I don't like pirates. Sorry, I just didn't grow up with "cool" pirates. To me pirates have always been kind of boring. The only pirates from my childhood were in a movie from the 80's called "Ice Pirates" and I'm pretty sure that sucked.



This is why my generation hates pirates...

This one was done by Tracy himself, Brian Fee. Brian lovingly crafted this to evoke the feeling of the old horror comics of the 60's. It's also based on a novelty Halloween severed head Brian bought a few years back called "Worm Food". He bought the head with the hopes of spending his weekends repainting it to look more realistic, but like most refurbishing projects, worm food still sits half finished, and forgotten, like so many bondo covered cars, and untended gardens.

This one was done by Josh Cooley. A fun take on good intentions gone wrong, and a nice shout out to his alma mater.



* Update: "Tracy" won Best Mockumentary at the Ferndale Film Festival! Thanks to everyone that put on the festival and to everyone that went to see the film.

I drew this one, it's a take on the strange Andy Capp type comics about funny alcoholics in loveless marriages.
